Uterine Cancer starts in the uterus. The uterus is the pear-shaped organ in a woman’s pelvis (the area below your stomach and in between your hip bones). The uterus also called the womb, is where the baby grows when a woman is pregnant. The most common type of uterine cancer is also called endometrial cancer because it forms in the lining of your uterus, called the endometrium.
Symptoms of Uterine Cancer
Women with uterine cancer may experience the following symptoms or signs. Sometimes, women with uterine cancer do not have any of these changes. Or, the cause of a symptom may be a different medical condition that is not cancer.
- Unusual vaginal bleeding, spotting, or discharge. For premenopausal women, this includes menorrhagia, which is abnormally heavy or prolonged bleeding, and/or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).
- Abnormal results from a Pap test
- Pain in the pelvic area
The most common symptom of endometrial cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding, ranging from a watery and blood-streaked flow to a flow that contains more blood. Vaginal bleeding during or after menopause is often a sign of a problem.
If uterine cancer is diagnosed, relieving symptoms remains an important part of cancer care and treatment. This may be called palliative care or supportive care. It is often started soon after diagnosis and continued throughout treatment. Be sure to talk with your health care team about the symptoms you experience, including any new symptoms or a change in symptoms. (www.cancer.net)
Natural ways to manage your symptoms
Alternative treatments should be done in conjunction with traditional medicine in order to boost your chances of defeating cancer.
- If you’re nauseated by cancer treatments, try having some ginger or peppermint to soothe your stomach.
- Watch out for dehydration and make sure you are getting plenty of fluids.
- Make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Sleep gives the body a chance to turn up its infection-fighting abilities because it’s not busy doing the things it does while you’re awake.
- Lower your intake of refined sugar and processed flours to help keep blood sugar under control.
- Drink Matcha green tea. Matcha is rich in catechins, a class of plant compounds found in tea that is known to be a natural antioxidant.
